Privacy at a glance
The current release does not request the Android INTERNET permission. Its only declared Android permission is VIBRATE, which is used to provide scan feedback and alerts.
Information VanScan processes
When you use VanScan, the app may process information that you choose to provide, including:
- Inventory files that you select, including Excel (.xlsx) and CSV files.
- Item or barcode numbers, item descriptions, and expected quantity-on-hand values contained in those files.
- Barcode or part-number scans, cumulative scanned quantities, overages, shortages, and unknown item codes.
- Inventory session information, including locally saved progress and completion date/time.
- Reconciliation reports that you choose to export, print, or save as PDF or CSV.
VanScan uses this information to perform inventory counting and reconciliation on the device.
Data collection and sharing
Overwatch Digital Solutions does not receive, collect, sell, rent, or share the inventory files, barcode scans, quantities, or reconciliation results processed by the current VanScan release.
VanScan does not currently include user accounts, cloud synchronization, advertising networks, analytics services, or embedded third-party tracking SDKs.
User-directed sharing
If you choose to export, print, save, upload, email, or otherwise share a VanScan report, that action is initiated by you. The destination application, printer, cloud-storage provider, or other service you select may process that file under its own privacy policy.
File access and device storage
VanScan uses Android's system file picker so you can select an inventory file. The app receives access to the file you choose rather than requesting broad access to all files on your device.
Inventory session data and scan progress are stored locally in the app's private storage so a session can be restored after the app is closed or the device restarts.
Android may include application data in device or account backups depending on your Android and Google backup settings. Those backup functions are provided and controlled by the operating system or backup provider, not by Overwatch Digital Solutions.
Retention and deletion
Locally stored VanScan data remains on the device until it is replaced through normal app use, the app's storage is cleared, or VanScan is uninstalled. Files that you export or save outside VanScan remain wherever you chose to save them and must be deleted from that location separately.
Security
VanScan is designed as an offline-first inventory utility. Keeping the core inventory workflow on-device reduces unnecessary transmission of inventory information. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and any exported files.
Children's privacy
VanScan is a workplace inventory application and is not designed or directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the current VanScan application.
Changes to this policy
If VanScan's features or data practices change, this policy may be updated. For example, a future version that adds cloud synchronization, accounts, analytics, or other network services would require corresponding changes to this policy and to the Google Play Data safety disclosures.
The effective date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last updated.
